Shyla Nelson Stewart is an internationally-acclaimed classical soprano, public speaker, and social entrepreneur, trained at Oberlin Conservatory of Music, the MET, and Washington National Opera, whose early career was interrupted by an injurious trauma, resulting in the full loss of her voice at a young age. Following her recovery, she forged an international career, specializing in the early, bel canto, and orchestral repertoire, including lead roles in operas of Händel, Donizetti and Mozart, as well as orchestral and oratorio works of Bach, Haydn, Mendelssohn, and Mahler. She has been heralded by critics as a soprano of "consummate artistry and vocal grace," delighting audiences in the US and abroad. She has also collaborated in Earth-focused crossover projects with 7-time Grammy-Award-Winning world musician Paul Winter and his Consort.
Having reclaimed her own voice, Shyla has dedicated her life to empowering others to do the same, teaching her program in webinars and live workshops around the world. In addition she maintains a small group coaching practice for individual clients, including internationally-renown performing artists, rock musicians, leading inspirational/motivational speakers, business and world leaders.
The discovery of the power of the Core, or Enteric Nervous System (ENS) and groundbreaking research from leading neuroscientists led Shyla to create the CROCU/CoreMindfulness program, being launched as online courses and semiannual master-level retreats at her historic Vermont farmstead, beginning in 2021.
Her path to recovery included a deep reconnection with the natural world, inspiring her to establish the One Earth. One Voice. campaign in 2009, a global grassroots movement in over 75 countries worldwide, harnessing the power of song to promote a new era of Earth stewardship, in collaboration with the United Nations.
In 2016 she became President of Fieldstone Publishing, leading creators and publishers of some of the world's most beloved field guides to nature.
She lives with her husband at Stone Hill Farm, an elegant, eco-conscious historic farmstead in Vermont, where they host guests, special events, retreats, weddings, and inspiring educational programs.
